The Shanbaro Community Association assists refugees and all newcomers in preparing for the US Citizenship test through weekly citizenship workshops. Recently 36 Somali refugees, 2 Liberian refugees, 2 Hispanic immigrants and 1 Tanzanian immigrant passed the exam and became naturalized citizens!
Saida Abdi presented to the Shanbaro Community Association's Boston Bantu Girls Group about her journey to the United States, what it was like for her when she entered school here in the 9th grade, and her college and career experiences.
Saida brought henna to end the session on a note of sharing something cultural.

Affected workers sought help at the Collaborative’s Worker Center for alleged labor law violations at Titterington’s Bakery in Woburn, MA. The Collaborative connected the workers to the Attorney General’s Office and now hundreds of workers will get restitution for employment violations by the bakery.
