Chelsea United in Defense of Education (CUDE)
Mission
To promote the participation of parents and students in all levels of the educational process; to coordinate our strengths with parents, community and organizations with the same interest to achieve quality education without consideration of race or ethnicity; to act as a bridge between all interested parties and be able to communicate with the authorities of the Chelsea Public Schools and the community as a whole.
Overview
Twenty parents of Chelsea school children form the core leadership of this community organization which works with the schools, elected officials and community leaders to carry out their mission. Key issues they are working include attendance, fighting and violence, military recruiting and strengthening the bond between school personnel and parents. CUDE works closely with its partner agencies including the Chelsea Latino Education Group to provide a full program of leadership training for parents.
